The move is a demonstration of “the importance that DFS attaches to the China market”

Luxury travel retailer DFS is to attend the first ever China International Consumer Products Expo in Hainan as it looks to demonstrate its commitment to the market.

DFS opened a new duty free complex in Haikou Mission Hills, Hainan, earlier this year in partnership with Shenzen Duty Free Group.

A DFS spokesperson said: “Attending the Consumer Expo is a demonstration of the importance that DFS attaches to the China market. DFS is committed to building Hainan into a centre of international tourism consumption, promoting the development of modern service industry in Hainan, and supporting the Hainan Free Trade Port’s goals.”

The Expo, which takes place on 7-10 May, is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the People’s Government of Hainan Province. It is the first state-level exhibition to focus on consumer products.

DFS will use the occasion to demonstrate its experience in luxury merchandising and creating partnerships with global brands, as well as highlighting store design and how to develop the customer experience online and offline.
