China is one of the major buyers of Chilean wines
Hainan's office for International Economic Development met with representatives of the Chilean Wines Association. They were introduced to the investment opportunities and benefits of Hainan Free Trade Port. Deputy head of the office Gong Qijun welcomed the participation of Chilean wineries in the second China International Consumer Products Show next year.
The Chilean Wines Association is a non-profit organization representing the interests of Chilean producers. Its main task is to promote the wine-making products of this South American country all across the world. The members of the association account for 70% of Chile's bottled wine exports. In May 2013, the organization opened its Asia-Pacific office in Shanghai.
China is one of the major buyers of Chilean wines. Last year, Chinese importers bought wine in Chile for $ 185 million. In the first quarter of 2021, China imported this product for $ 67.9 million, which is 40% higher compared to the same period last year.
The first China International Consumer Exhibition was held on May 7-10 at Hainan International Exhibition Center in Haikou. The expo was attended by representatives of 70 countries, over 2,600 premium brands of consumer products, as well as more than 1,500 companies, including about 850 Chinese, over 650 — foreign ones. During four days of work, the exhibition attracted more than 240,000 visitors, as well as over 30,000 customers.
